Let's Welcome the New Verizon CEO

Lowell McAdam takes over as Verizon's CEO on August 1st. (Ivan Seidenberg will stay on as Chairman of the Board.)  This is the company's chance to redirect their approach to bargaining into productive negotiations instead of the overreaching demands they've made so far.

McAdam also needs to know that if the company continues to go down the path it's on, he can be 100% certain we will do whatever is necessary to win a fair contract for the workers and retirees who built Verizon.

Let's fill up McAdam's in box with thousands of messages. He needs to know that we're united and ready to fight!

Welcome to your new position as CEO of Verizon. Along with my 45,000 CWA and IBEW brothers and sisters in Verizon East, I want to work with you to ensure our company's continued success.

We are all hoping that you believe in building a productive relationship with Verizon's unionized workforce. But the contract demands that Verizon has put on the table so far signal a different approach. These proposals would eliminate our job security and slash our standard of living. The company's bargaining proposals fail to recognize the contributions made by active and retired employees to building and maintaining Verizon's network and creating and serving the customer base that has made Verizon's success possible. These proposals simply don't treat us as a partner in building Verizon's future.

Mr. McAdam, you have an opportunity to forge a productive, cooperative relationship with Verizon's union workers, built on a commitment to shared success and mutual benefit. But if the company continues to go down a different path, you can be 100% certain we will do whatever is necessary to win a fair contract for the workers and retirees who built Verizon into the company you now lead.
