Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn has put a hold on the bill that would reauthorize the FAA and provide funds for surface transportation projects (HR 2887). If he does not release his hold, the FAA will shut down tomorrow, and 100,000 people will be out of work by Saturday.
Senator Coburn is delaying action on the bill because he wants to cut funding for bike and pedestrian safety improvments from the bill. He is willing to put 100,000 people out of work over a provision that affects less than 2% of the total funding in the bill.
These kinds of political games are not acceptable, at least not in this economy.
Call Senator Coburn's office today at 888-907-9365.
Hi. I am calling to ask Senator Coburn to support HR 2887, the FAA authorization bill, as written. If he does not release his hold on the bill the FAA will shut down and 100,000 people will be out of work by this Saturday. That just doesn't make sense in these tough times.
